IL Legislative Update

At the Illinois State Board of Educations last meeting, the following amendments were approved to submit to the State Education Code. There’s one more step in the process but hopefully everything will be finalized by the end of the year.  Great work advocating for this parents!! Last week the READ Act passed the House and will be moving on too the Senate. Reading Instruction Advisory Group

Part of the Dyslexia Legislation that was passed in July 2014 included the formation of an advisory panel to develop a teacher training module on multi-sensory, explicit, systematic reading instruction.  While funding was not designated to create this group, the Illinois State Board Of Education felt it was important enough to push forward.  This is the link ISBE has provided to follow the groups development.
