1st DD Meeting

Our History

In February of 2013, a group of Illinois parents reached out to Decoding Dyslexia New Jersey after reading an article highlighting their work on creating legislative change for students with dyslexia. The parents from New Jersey were able to guide us on how to reach out to legislators with a consistent message.

In 2013, Representative JoAnn Osmond agreed to sponsor a bill and Senator Melinda Bush signed on to sponsor it on the Senate side.

We've organized advocacy days in Springfield where parents and educators can share their stories with legislators.
